KX1000 developed through repeated listening comparisons that asked whether a control made an important relationship faster to hear and easier to own.

The principles behind the decision

  2. 02. Wide tests reveal direction; smaller moves finish the sound.
  3. 03. Failures are useful when they expose a boundary or interaction.
  4. 04. The full groove remains the final test.

A practical way to hear it

Predict what a control will do, move it much farther than you normally would, then return to the smallest useful change. This sequence trains the ear faster than making several cautious moves at once.

The purpose of this exercise is not to reach a prescribed setting. It is to make the relationship audible enough that the producer can choose deliberately.
