KX1000 treats tuning as a controlled option because kick pitch may be stable, moving or perceptually ambiguous.
The principles behind the decision
- 01. The sub layer can provide the clearest tonal anchor.
- 02. Body and transient may need gentler movement than the sub.
- 03. Root, fifth and extended matching are creative relationships, not correctness tests.
- 04. Tuning should be verified against bass movement and envelope length.
A practical way to hear it
Toggle tuning off and on at matched level while the bass plays. If the tonal relationship becomes clearer without weakening the attack or creating a new clash, the tuning is useful. If little changes, leave it off.
The purpose of this exercise is not to reach a prescribed setting. It is to make the relationship audible enough that the producer can choose deliberately.
