A practical way to hear it
Before adding a processor, state the problem in one sentence and bypass the current chain at matched level. If the source, duration or bass relationship is wrong, solve that before refining tone.
The purpose of this exercise is not to reach a prescribed setting. It is to make the relationship audible enough that the producer can choose deliberately.
Boundary and evidence
The problem is not complexity itself. Advanced tools are valuable when the producer knows what question they are answering.
